THE CULTURE THAT I PRESENTED

The culture that my group did was Trinidadians East Indians, we learn about there religious beliefs, their food, greetings and the values they uphold. The culture was definitely different from what I thought I knew, especially when coming to the celebration, I had no idea that all the preparation like fasting for six to eight week or the meaning why the keep up the festival. For instant, the Divali festival, the Hindu take this celebrations very serious because, this is the time were they believe that the spiritual darkness has been lifted, and that they well receive wealth and prosperity in the coming of the New Year.   The next thing that I have learned is, in the phagwa festival the music that they dance and sing to is a different type of music. They sing to a special type which is called chowtal and they dance to two instruments which are dholak and majeera. When I am communicating with my fellow East Indian friends, I will have something new to talk to them about and I can get to understand it a little better.
